It is rare when you have an event that you can truly classify as a once in a lifetime event. Tonight was such a night for my family and we are still feeling the effects. Tonight we bought carry-out Chinese food from a restaurant in Damascus. After the meal we agreed that it was within the top one or two worst meals we have every paid money for. It started with a bite of the brown, greasy, limp, lump of dough called a "Spring Roll" in the menu. It was so bad that even the knowledge that I had paid real money for it was not enough to stop me from setting it down. It went downhill from there. We almost spit the Hot and Sour soup across the table. It ended up down the garbage disposal. We all slid the indefinite lumps of meat type products in the various dishes hoping to find some glimmer of good taste - but it was futile. It pretty much all ended up in the trash and for someone as cheap as me, that takes a spectacular level of horribleness.
Afterward, as we discussed our varying levels of nausea and drank anything we could to kill the taste in our mouths, we realized that there had been only one or two other times when we had food that bad. It was a rare and memorable event.
