Not in Boston

Right now I was supposed to be turning out the light in my hotel room in Boston so that I would wake up refreshed and ready for the first day of my week long class tomorrow. I am home instead. I arrived at the airport to discover that my travel orders were messed up and my tickets, although reserved, had not been paid for. I am dedicated worker, but not so dedicated that I would risk not being reimbursed by paying for them myself. So I turned around and came home.

I do not travel often so my good-bye was a grandiose event with much hugging and kissing. It was a great send-off. And three hours later I was back. Tomorrow I will begin the process of trying to unravel the travel order mess and may end up on a plane to Boston tomorrow night, in the mean time it was great to be walking into the house this evening. It had all the joy of a homecoming without any of the headaches of traveling. Maybe I should pack and leave for a pretend trip more often just to have the joy of not going anywhere.

For some reason all evening a line from a Veggie Tales song has been in my head - from the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything...

"...and I've never been to Boston in the fall!"
