Quiet
The house is deliciously silent. The wood stove is keeping the place warm enough that the furnace isn't kicking in. When the furnace runs, we have the gentle gurgling of hot water running through the baseboard pipes - which is much nicer than the dull roar of cold air coming out of the vents in our previous, heat-pump house. But the silence of the the wood stove is best of all. The TV and radio are off and there is no music playing anywhere. There isn't even conversation, we are simply sitting on the couch reading. Silence is a rare, sweet thing in this noisy world.
