Snow Day

How can something so cold cause so much joy. We sit cozy and wrapped in a white cocoon in no hurry to be freed by the noisy snow plows. It is more than just snow. It is the simplicity that has been forced upon us. All the daily busyness that converts our lives into the harried frenzy we call normalcy is silenced in a snow storm. We can't race around late for appointments. We just sit by the fire and read or do the delightfully mindless work of shoveling. Deadlines can't get at us unless they have a 4x4 - which they don't. There is nothing like a snow day. It makes me wonder if it hints at heaven.
